Couldn't resist taking a vacation day for one of my favorite
thigs...cask ale. Though no Chicago Real Ale Fest(which no longer exists),
it is better than nothing. Mike Sella has worked hard to bring real ale
back to NJ and this is his second fest in the last 6 months. He said that
this one did better than the first so, iyt figures, that the ones that
follow will be even better yet. He plans on doing them twice a year.
Here is a list from this event:
Capt. Lawrence Smoked Porter, Pale Ale and Double IPA
Pizzeria Uno Station House Red and Ike's IPA
River Horse Special Ale and Hop Hazard
Climax Helles
Yards Brawler(oak-aged) and Philly Pale Ale(dry-hopped)
Sly Fox Phoenix Pale Ale and 113 IPA
A great lineup and at $4 a pint, a real bargain!
It attracted a right nice crowd and I got to see some
people I haven't seen in a while....the Pubscout Kurt Epps made his appearance
as well as brewer Dave Hoffmann and Hunterdon rep Jeff Rancan.
The food was good and the beer was great! Everyone had
a good time and Mike said they sold out by the midnight deadline.
Keep an eye out for another one in the Fall and be sure
not to miss it.
